A few months ago some friends were helping to place a mare who had been ridden regularly and was HYPP negative. During the few months in between homes - she was in large paddock - but not being ridden. ( altho had been ridden often by previous owner ).
They found a great home for her -- and shortly later she had huge attack -- they report they were informed that she was now HYPP pos -- even tho she had previously tested neg. They put the horse down.
Does this scenario seem possible? Can some previously neg HYPP horses later end up with HYPP ?
I love cats - but I can't eat a whole one
