Exactly. We tested the horse. We new the risk. And it worked out well. It could have gone the othe way, but that was the risk we took.
Yes. My sister-in-law does ride "Frank" (He has blue eyes). We trailer out for day rides and once in a while go on camping trips. It was recommended to us that we not show him to avoid unnecessary stress and we try to avoid too much potassium. I've never heard about giving karo syrup. I'd be a bit nervous about giving something orally to an animal having muscle control problems.
Lastly, I would never breed a horse known to be HYPP positive, but the idea of putting an animal down because he MIGHT someday have an episode that could be catagorized as anywhere from life threatening to completely un-noticed makes no sense to me at all! I realize that there is the added risk of an injury to the rider, but the very moment you decided you wanted horses in your life you subjected yourself to added risk.
