I want to get my colt on a good feed program. Former owner said he was on pasture only or grass hay only since birth. He has been regularly wormed and is up to date on shots.
Right now I have him just on a very nice grass hay, since Saturday. Like most of us I want ot be sure he is getting everything he needs, He seems a bit thin to me, you can't see his ribs but you can feel them.
I give my old mare one feeding of EGM stable mix and one feeding of the grass hay so have stable mix here. How about I add a few pounds of it for the colt?
I have been giving him all the hay I thought he would eat, as much as I'm giving my 1100 pound mare and he cleans it up, and is asking for food whenever he sees me.
His former owner emphasized not giving him alfalfa, do you agree with this? Ideas? Opinions?
Life is short. Break the rules. Forgive quickly. Kiss slowly. Love truly.
