I would laugh it off. If you put any energy into it, it almost validates the rumors. People can see that the place is well run and the horses/clients are well taken care of (Having been there).
While I was a saddle fitter, I went all over and never heard that rumor. I did hear from other professionals not to cross you ! That is a good rep to have :-)
