I bet that reining horse was insured...the procedure you describe is very intersting, but all the investigation they did likely ran up a sizeable bill.
My horses are not insured by any group other than my checkbook.
A friend of mine rides reining horses. Her animals are insured. She spent $10K last year diagnosing a lameness then doing stem cell therapy. That is great - but my checkbook would have ran dry way before we got close to the diagnosis.
