You are completely right. However in the scheme of things I doubt the force plate or showing were that expensive. The MRI and surgery would have been!
It was an interesting case. I have no idea if the horse as insured but I do know that the owner did not want to do an MRI when she first saw this vet. However she was prepared to do one after they had managed to get the horse sound and he was winning. It is interesting how we all have our comfort zones and how we make decisions based on what we feel we will get out of it. Once this owner knew the horse could be made sound she was prepared to do more. Diagnostics are hard because you don't know if they will show anything but you do know they will cost a lot of money.
