My mare and the mare I care for are both on a diet. So I have cut back on their hay: one hay is mostly alfala with grass hay and the other is blue grass with 20% alfalfa. I'm trying to keep the flakes as close to 7lbs. as my inaccurate way of weighing can do.
I have yet to blanket, but will if necessary. I have a long yearling Arabian gelding with good weight and right now, rump high, again. Should I be blanketing him as well?
