I've been on the other side....I was evicted by an unfair, unreasonable barn owner. She shut the water off, took out light bulbs & lots of other things. It takes sometimes more than 30 days to get it together to move a bunch of horses (in my case)so it's not always a matter of someone "staying at a barn that doesn't want you" on purpose. The person probably wants like hell to leave as fast as humanly possible but it's taking some time to either get a deposit together, put up a structure or whatever the case may be.
We always paid on time- despite the fact that she tore up our checks & left the pile of paper in front of the stalls. We stayed out of her way, kept everything up to par as far as horse care & barn cleanliness etc etc.
But to get to the point- there are little to no laws that govern boarding horses anywhere in the bay area, so in my case the barn owner was S.O.L. she's just lucky we were nice & didn't retaliate against all her BS.
Always remember that anything you say can or will be held against you in a court of law. Assault includes verbal abuse. Any & everything that you do- you should thoroughly research first so that she doesn't have a case against you, ever.
