It's never spread into the pasture, even with flood irrigation and the horses eating it. It has to be REALLY wet for it to seed and grow.
I'd never heard of it either. You can see it in my ditch in this picture - getting grazed down. 
If riding were all blue ribbons and bright lights, I would have quit long ago. ~ George Morris
