All of the options are very confusing! I know there must be other owners out there who just don't know what to do. My horse is young, seems healthy, looks great, but only eats grass hay and pasture. I take a multi-vitamin for myself to fill in the missing stuff, I am thinking my horse should have something as well.
I have heard about hay testing. The barn where I board is small so only gets in about 40 bales at a time. Since is changes often (always seems to be high quality grass though) is that still an option?
Many of the other owners feed Omega Horseshine, other flax supplements too, but just seem to do it because someone else is. I want to make sure i'm feeding something because the horse needs it, not just because it makes me feel better to do so.
I'd love any opinions on the subject. I know I will also check with my vet, but wanted to hear what the experts here think as well.
thanks!
