It depends on the vet. Some are very open to what the owner's request and respect that they know their animal better than they do. Other's become real jerks when you 'tell' them what to do. Personally, if I had a vet who wouldn't work with me and belittle me I would be done. I've done that in the past and not regretted it for one minute. Just remember it's your animal and you will be the one who has to live and correct any mistakes.
