When they became a humane society, their vegan stance is so alienating to me.
I loved Nor Cal when they would go to the auctions and do a little bio of every horse they bought and take tons of pics, maybe 3-4 years ago. I spent some time there with the 'owners'. I do not recognize any of the original energy, intent in anything they say now.
I remember when fugly had a post about how brave Nor Cal was to have the first euth clinic anyone talked about. They spoke about the need carefully. They used to seem (unhealthily, to the detrement of their family) devoted to the animals in their care.
We got Rubys horse Meg from them three years ago, I was very upset that even though she was discovered to be pregnant, she lost a LOT of weight in the three weeks between us going to meet her to when we picked her up. That was the beginning of my doubt about them. Now I just cant relate. They seem to have become an inexpensive resource for euthing horses, which is bizarre when they want to save every chicken!!!
