Working with mares

I am one of those people who identify herself as a "gelding" person. I guess it's because I've seen so many mares who give mares a bad name and love my geldings. But I have to believe that much of that unpleasant mareish behavior, since it stems from the brain, could be changed, with changing thoughts. Asking this because I'm searching for another horse and really thinking about searching for a mare.
Thoughts anyone?
