It sounds like for whatever reason he began bucking. Either to "escape" something or just plain end the lesson. I have seen horses do a number of tricks to escape a lesson.
This is just my opinion, but it sounds like you need a trainer to take the horse for a bit. The videos help with certain things as well as clinics, but he needs to learn that bucking is not effective way to end a lesson. Behaving is the way to end a lesson the fastest. He will have to have his behavior stopped before he reaches the point of bucking. A good trainer might never actually experience the bucking issue because they are stopping the behavior before it gets to the point of bucking.
I applaud you for taking steps to ensure it wasn't a physical issue and are still sticking with him to help fix him.
