I hear you! One of the old cowboys I know said to "ride him up to Monument Peak with another horse and then bring him back to the arena and he'll be happy to be there. Sounds like when push comes to shove nobody has been able to beat that little guy and he knows it."
He didn't mean "beat" as in violence either. Just that he digs in and won't get along unless it's his agenda. And it might take showing him a good bit of work to compare to the little bit of work he'd have to do in the arena.
So like I said looks like there are two schools of thought here and since every horse is different who knows what will work. Of course I want a horse that will willingly go along. I get that. Maybe running him up a mountain will help him willngly get along better in the arena. Who knows?
