So glad that your vet is on board. The pergolide can make a huge difference. You'll know in a few weeks. One tip: when horses start pergolide for the first time they often experience a temporary side effect commonly called the "pergolide veil", where they seem a little "spacey" and depressed, and quite often go off their feed. The best way to prevent or minimize this is to split the dose in half or even quarters and build up from there over a couple of weeks. When I started my guy on 1 mg I bought it in 1/2 mg capsules and and gave him one in the am and one in the pm. He never had a problem. If you are using Prascend, break the tablet in half.If your horse has side effects, just back the dosage off and gradually work your way up to the full dose. Not all vets are aware of this.
