After two months of on and off lameness with the gelding, who is a rescue, finally culminated with the removal of a 1/2 inch piece of wood that was lodged deep inside the frog. It was the farrier, not the trimmer, who found it. The fact that the frogs weren't being trimmed made him swear. It was the act of trimming the frog that uncovered the splinter. The splinter has been there months before he came under my care and when he had had his hoof care done by Scott Bell who, I'm guessing, also doesn't believe in trimming frogs?
Any opinions on trimming vs. not trimming frogs?
