If this has never surfaced until now then something has either changed or this new horse that bothers her is quite a threat to her. You can only control the horse you ride and when you let her move her body away and she knows you are thinking about helping her out she will respond better. SOme people and their horses have very bad energy. This does not mean they are bad people but they are like a bull in china shop. Your horse is more sensitive and perhaps has becoem more so over the years. But you cannot punish her for protecting herself in a way she would do it when alone. Its your job since you are controlling her feet. This does not mean you allow her to snake her head out to bite, you need to ask her to move over and stay in between your legs and reins. If this is something that is not working well normally then of course it won't work well in that situation. Your horse needs to learn that when you ride her you are number one horse and that you will not let this other horse hurt her and then you need to make sure that never happens. The other rider needs to learn some stuff it sounds like.
