Due to heart valve problems, and there were reports of strange new behaviors. Impaired associative learning was a reported side effect. In horses high doses can cause them to become agitated and unpredictable. Humans did experience hallucinations, so I'm certain horses might as well.
After my one personal experience using the drug on a boarder's horse, I'll never use it again.
