Bees generally are a good thing. You sure don't want to kill them. They won't bother the horses, and unless you're allergic, they won't bother you. If you check around they might have a hive nearby and you can have a professional apiarist come and remove it and the bees. If there are lots of bees dying, then it's possible a queen has died and the new queen took most of the hive and left the area, leaving behind some of the workers, which will all die, anyway. More insidious reasons would be if a neighbor is planting things that kill bees. Some roses have been genetically modified and they put out a substance that kills bees.
But yellow jackets are another story. They're aggressive and they're meat eaters, so putting out yellow jacket traps are the best deterrent.
