Set up some ground poles

(or cones) and do serpentines in between them. As he gets better, shorten the distance between poles. Also, do a lot of flexing. Carrot stretches are good for this, then light requests from the reins. It is easiest with direct reining using a non-shanked snaffle. This is not usually part of TWH training since flexion is not needed in gaiting, so it is really something new.
