I have a 28 year old Cushings gelding who was an easy keeper all his life (never been tested for IR, but likely, never foundered). The past two years he started losing weight, and I have a harder and harder time keeping it on. While I know that rice bran is not perfect for him, it's been one of the ingredients of the "mash" I feed him at night, along with beet pulp and Omega Horseshine. He also gets one flake of Alfalfa and tested grass hay ad lib. His teeth are checked regularly and he is on Prascend.
Do you have any suggestions what I could use instead of the rice bran? The amount he gets right now is what he's willing to eat. Can't get any more into him. He seems to hold his weight currently, still would like to get some more on him for winter.
Thanks in advance!
