It my experience its been better to have the hores barefoot so they can breakover where ever they want. I used to take in old lame horses for my lesson program, would pull shoes off first thing. What do you know some of the horses that were quite lame after a shoeing cycle were no longer lame. At 26 you have to trim the horse the way they need to go, not balanced to make the farrier look good. And one thing we use at our barn for xtra pain management is turmeric, its very healthy option too. I personally would not increase previcox, at 1/2 tab that is already more then most horses that I have managed in my care. And there are side effects and possible ulcers with long term use and so that can be afftecting the eat as well.
