just wondering how many of you all have had an umbilical hernia in a young foals resolve on its' own versus having to be operated on. i noticed my filly had one two days ago, it is not painful or hard and is "one and a half finger" size. i have been massaging it several times a day as i've heard this is the best way to encourage it to heal on its' own. yes, my vet is aware of the situation. i don't want to be hasty about surgery, and would love to hear your experiences. thank you
