Ok I thought I was the queen of getting thin horses fat, need help Posted by codymustang on 6/14/2009, 1:22 pm 67.150.141.179 History; my sons almost 30 yr gelding, been losing weight for months now, cant get him to gain; His teeth have been done, blood work, cushings test, etc. (hes borderline for cushings; vet did not reccomend putting him on pergolide; have 2 on already) So- hes getting stable mix pellets, soaked, beat pulp,LMF, rice bran, free choice all in one, weight gain, corn oil, and free choice wheat (which he doesnt eat) and alfalfa. Hes losing, not gaining. I'm spending about 150. every 2 weeks on feed/supplements for him. He was doing ok, but lately dropping again- Any suggestions? Talked to 3different vets- 1 reccomends going ahead & starting pergolide, which I may do; any more suggestions? Thanks in advance! I've never had a thin horse other than arescue. (he is a rescue- but 3 years ago) oh- and he does eat; all of his pellets/pulp etc. Has a voracious appetite with pellets etc., but doesnt like the hay.
