My vet did a blood test and we were surprised to find his blood sugar was low, which was unusual. He started to "wind down" but after he passed we sent him to Davis for a necropsy, and he had cancer. We just thought it was due to old age (he was 31 1/2). I also lost my second old guy to cancer (lymphoma), but due to the blood test we suspected as much due to high white cell count. He also wound down, and necropsy confirmed the lymphoma. I suspect there may be a lot more cancer in the older guys than we know..
