What works for my itchy itchy guy. - Flax (what you are doing) - Spirulina - seems to control his allergic reaction or give him the ability to tolerate it better. I get mine from Horsetech or Springtime
- when the above doesn't work, give him antihistimine - Hydroxine (a perscription antihistimine).
I don't ride my horse when he is getting the Hydroxine, because it makes the dehydrate easily and can make them sleepy (like Benedryl).
Fly sheets are not an option for me as the youngster shreds them off the other horses. Locking mine up doesn't work. And my horse reacts to most fly sprays, so can't use that.
