pulling breast collar Posted by chattykathy on 5/12/2008, 3:08 pm 72.75.169.34 What are the advanage and disadvanage of this breast collar that hooks to the cantel of the saddle instead of the d rings. I have a older Big Horn saddle and it doesn't have d rings so I am thinking that it would work for me. Anybody else have one?  Post a Response

I prefer a breast collar be hooked onto the front of the saddle up higher as it is in the pic, as it doesnt rub on the shoulders. BUT i ride endurance, what works for me might not work for you. alot does depend on the saddle. if you have ?'s PM me and ill answer them, or ask here.  Post a Response

I mainly stick to this type or an old style martingale breastcollar because it doesn't crowd the shoulders so much and they fit a little better (especially on mules). I do prefer the ones that have a strap that goes over the neck This one is fairly big for the appy, matched a different saddle I don't have anymore and I just generally don't like it. think the pulling breast collar is the Posted by mary bluepony on 5/15/2008, 10:55 am, in reply to "pulling breast collar" 68.190.254.86 western equivalent of the english breast plate. any breast collar that incorporates a strap that goes over the neck to support is far superior to the ones that just loop across the chest IMHO. I have one of the original Stonewall nylon endurance brest collars that I use on any saddle I ride, western or english. more than 30 years old and tough as nails. never rubbed a horse and so stablizing, no tight cinches!  Post a Response
