How much would you charge for... Posted by Kim on 7/2/2008, 7:07 pm 99.129.197.79 cleaning and turning out of horses. I have someone that wants me to turnout and clean horses pens next week as they have a show they will be at during the day(s) next week. There is no feeding involved. Just cleaning stalls and outside runs and turning horses out. There could be anywhere from 4-6 horses that I need to do.  Post a Response

I will be having to clean 8 or 9 stalls and having to turn out half the horses one day and half the next, it's a total of 9 days they need me. The person told me she can only afford $10/hour. She said it shouldn't take more than 3 hours. Would you do it for this much? I basically told the person I clean (1x/day)and feed (2x/day) at another place (7 horses), and that doesn't include turnout and she gives me $45/day. I told her I couldn't do it for less than $45/day. As my time is valuable to me plus w/ the cost of gas and what not need to make it worth my time. Am I asking to much?  Post a Response

I would charge 20.00 a day just for 1 horse.... Breakdown- I took in boarders; I charge 150.00 self care, 250.00 if I feed- they still clean, 300.00 if I feed/clean & turn out.... thats for people already comitted and I dont have an arena. But they have stallions & they are difficult to handle.45.00 a day is a bargain. If she doesnt wanna pay it, she can try to find someone else. If she can afford to take off on vacation/to show whatever, she can afford to pay fair wages for care of her horses.  Post a Response

The $10 an hour thing would only be acceptable for a long term relationship that had other benefits (and NOT using your own gas or travel time). I thought my fee of $45/day was more than fair. She got back to me and basically said that she can't afford that (my fee)and can only afford the $10/hr.
