Out of state visitors to southern California need recommendations Posted by Debbie Smith, BAEN on 7/13/2008, 9:21 am Board Administrator Hi, I've made a few recommendations to these folks. For those of you who live or travel in southern California, what are your personal suggestions/favorites? ------------------------- We will be in the LA area (staying in Solvang but a few trips to LA) and my 13 year old horse-obsessed daughter needs new English riding boots. Short boots to go with her half chaps that is. We're surfed the net and just aren't sure where to go. Any suggestions? Also, her dream is to canter on a beach. Do you know of any horse rentals that would allow her to do this?  Post a Response

Riding on the beach - Pismo beach not sure if they still have riding, but I would say they do. I used to ride there every summer. That is right up the way from Solvang. Griffith Park (LA Area) also has horse rentals - near the LA Zoo.  Post a Response

Don't know of any horse rentals for beach riding, only Half Moon Bay but that is in the north  Post a Response

sorry don't know of horse Posted by mary bluepony on 7/14/2008, 7:12 am, in reply to "Out of state visitors to southern California need recommendations" 24.180.55.245 rentals for the beach but would check out Malibu area stables. there is a beach in Mission Bay (sea world) where you can ride your horse on the beach. Boot wise come to Norco. there are several stores, start with Thrifty Horse on 6th St, with far better prices than just about anywhere.  Post a Response

Ecole has smaller selection, but she is hunter/jumper rider who shows on the circuit. She has a good selection, excellent customer service, and none of the snob issues. Loads of hunter/jumper tack and clothing. Dressage Extensions, Moorpark Don’t drive out to Moorpark for this – address is only their office. They do online sales only from www.dressage-ext.com - have stuff sent to your hotel while you're in the area to save shipping costs. Calabasas Saddlery, Calabasas Good selection of hunter/jumper gear. Euro Saddlery, Malibu New and used saddles. Great selection of breeches and other apparel. Somewhat expensive.  Post a Response
