My guy wears his fly sheet almost every day, from late spring through early fall (all summer). He has a Kensington fly sheet, with the UV protectant. I have skipped a day here and there when it was really, really, really hot (100+), but it was really just for my own mind - he was perfectly happy with it on. There are a bunch of people at my barn that feed garlic to repel bugs (ticks, etc). They say it works fine. However, I have heard people say they start feeling "hungry" when they are around those horses...as the horses literally smell like garlic!
