Anyone have experience choosing an endurance saddle to fit a Friesian Arabian cross? Posted by LoganHorse on 7/1/2009, 9:20 pm 71.196.249.168 My Friesian Arabian is finally under saddle. The trainer is riding him western in his own saddle which seems to fit OK-ish. I want to get him an endurance saddle that fits well, so both me and my husband can ride him (I ride english, he rides western). Any suggestion on brands that fit? Are there any brands of endurance saddles that have a fully adjustable tree (like Schleese english saddles)?  Post a Response

I think saddle fit on him may get interesting as well I ride in a Tucker endurance (hornless) that I use on his mother, and that fits just about anything I've ever put it on. His mom is a black Morgan/Welsh. I would never have bred her except for getting the opportunity to breed to Krist. They are my forever-no-matter-what horses. He's 2 now, been "working" with him since he was born. Put a bareback pad on him last week and cinched it up. He took one look back at it and ignored it while I walked and trotted him. That's what I want in training, especially when I get to mounting - non events! lol. I love the intelligence and sense of fun they have. Your baby is gorgeous! If he is wide it would probably be a good fit. It is treeless. If he has super tall withers it probably isn't a good choice. It works best with a HAF pad. I am currently riding in a Synergist endurance saddle, and it is a fully adjustable treed saddle. The way i have it done is i do a molding of my horses back and send it in to Synergist and they custom fit the saddle to the horse. I believe it costs around 200$ for them to redo the tree to refit the horse. I just ordered a Specialized saddle (http://specializedsaddles.com/new/) and these are incredible saddles. they are super comfortable and you can easily adjust them to fin the horse. they make several different models. With a young horse a well fitting saddle and a balanced rider are of highest importance. I think a specialized saddle will give you the most bang for your buck, because you can quite literally custom fit it to ANY horse you ever have. They are awesome saddles.  Post a Response

SR Endurance saddles Posted by 3 Bay Ranch on 7/2/2009, 6:43 am, in reply to "Anyone have experience choosing an endurance saddle to fit a Friesian Arabian cross?" 192.55.54.39 The SR's made by Steven Ray Gonzales are custom built and fitted to your horse, similar to how some of the semi Custom dressage saddles are (ie Schleese, Custome Saddlery, etc) He has you make a plaster cast of your horses back so your 'horse' is in the shop with him. www.endurance.net/srsaddle/ Another possiblity is a Sharon Saare saddle. They come in 8-9 different tree sizes. If you have your horse fit correctly, and you get the right tree, they fit nicely. Specialized saddles are interesting. They have plastic trees though, and I have seen several recently with twisted trees. Once a tree twists, it needs to be tossed/replaced.  Post a Response

It is very well balanced and comfortable. Recently put it on an Azteca (arab/quaterhorse) and fit. I don't remember the tree size off hand but it has a 16" seat works for just about everyone. Sharon came out again and said she now needed a different tree size. It was an expensive lesson, its a beautiful saddle. It fits just about every horse I have here, the exceptions are our mule and my friends big QH/Draft mare who lives here with us... It is a wonderful saddle, very comfy to ride in. Love my Arabian Saddle Company Solstice.. It's great.. really comfy for long miles, very secure with good knee blocks for those downhills, lots of clips for attachments.
