Four horses confirmed positive for West Nile. Have you vaccinated?!

West Nile Virus update: There are now a total of four horses that have confirmed positive for West Nile Virus. The horses are located in Fresno, Glenn, San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties. The most recent case is a 3-year-old unvaccinated filly in Fresno county. Please vaccinate your horses if you haven't already! So sad. I wonder if the owners just don't know how to vaccinate their horses themselves or can't afford a vet to come out and do it, or if they just have the mind set that it won't happen to them?

Such an inexpensive vaccination vs. what it costs to treat an infected horse. Or the worst case scenario . . . death.

and it's preventable! Mine are Vaccinated and aren't due until October - makes me wonder if I should get it done again now.

The local news says that this is the earliest that they have seen people and animals testing positive for WNV and that this is probably going to be the worst year for it so far.

Since the mosquitos are in full force now vs. October, it certainly wouldn't hurt to vaccinate them for it a little early this year. I vaccinate for it during the Spring each year to get a jump on the mosquito season.

They are finding birds all around us in Fresno county that are testing positive for west nile... Get your boosters!!!!!

...along with all of their other shots. The Vet said there are now confirmed cases in Oroville, Loomis, Lincoln, and Colusa. Costs a lot less to have them vaccinated then it does to try to save them!
