Hello all! I was wondering if anybody had good suggestions on where I can find cheap, yet sturdy and safe white vinyl fencing as such..
. I just purchased 4.5 acres and I'm looking for nice but safe fencing to fence off a pasture in front of my house. Thanks in advance for your help!

No suggestions about where to find the fencing, but suggestion that you think about running hot wire on it. I've seen horse destroy vinyl fencing pretty easily. It's pretty but not all that tough against the hoof, biting and rubbing of a horse.

The safest fence is one they never touch, and I've seen so many horses go through or break vinyl fencing that wasn't hot, that's really key.

Oh, yeah, fence... They can have bad wrecks with vinyl, plus, "cheap" and "vinyl" don't belong on the same page.
Horses can get stuck bad with broken pieces, and electric is only as good as their respect for it.

It's pretty though.
I'd like to do that on the front of property if I ever have the dough, but wouldn't use it as serious horse keepin' in fencing.

was all about having pretty, and fenced his horse property with high quality vinyl fencing. It was done twice, to be sure it was extra pretty. The horses simply walk through it when they are in the mood, and for awhile we would wake up to his horses hanging out with ours. The new owner of that property now has to redo the fence, with something else. If you intend to keep horses in your vinyl fenced pasture, and you want them to remain in the fence, I suggest a different fencing option. Hot wiring didn't make that vinyl secure.

personally i dislike "white" fencing. it distracts from the natural beauty of the landscape and gives a closed in feeling.

I think for "sturdy and safe", wood fencing with hot wire would be best.
for my guys in some areas all i use is three strands of wire or wire mesh tape, with the top two being hot. they have never gone thru the fence or tested it. now the gate is a different matter . .

I boarded my horses at a place with vinyl fence. Luckily there was a wood fence around the perimeter of the property, or the horses would have been out on the road many times!
The boards bend easily, so horses just push against them until the plop out.

We have vinyl fence around our property and I wanted something to match that. So I fenced my horses in with vinyl covered t-posts and 4 strands of whide electric tape. Looks almost as nice, is much safer and probably less expensive.

Honestly, I would take barbed wire over vinyl fencing I hate it that much. It is a pain in the butt to fix, it fractures very easily, and caused more cuts on horses than barbed wire ever did. Worst invention for horses ever!!! I had a horse kick it once as she was in turnout as she ran by. It sliced her back leg open in just a quick second. And everyone is right, they just lean on it and pop it is gone.
I bust mine...so I can kick yours!!

of this when I got here, I am down to a few turnouts now, having replaced it over the years. Would only recommend this fencing if you have very hot, hard-wired, know em on their ass hot wire along the inside. Ours didnt, and the former owner ran out of energy for fixing, so it was all loose, stretched, swinging in the wind and bent when we got here. What a waste!

Her fencing is the dark brown color. She put it in 7 years ago, and it still looks like brand new. She has had very few problems with it. The company that put it in came back and redid one corner post that wasn't put in correctly and wasn't holding the strain (fixed for free under the install warranty), and she had to tighten the strands when a tree fell on one fenceline and stretched the fence a bit. Other than that it's been maintenance free.

She has hotwire on the top of the fence around her sacrifice paddock, and perhaps also on one of the fences that goes between 2 pastures. I know she doesn't have any hotwire on the outside fence.

Cons: Expensive, and you can't climb over or thru the fence so make sure you have gates where you need them.

check the various fencing types. Vinyl can be very dangerous for horses if they kick it and it breaks -- can get their leg caught in it.

There are some really nice no-climb and other welded frame fencing available. Of course, it also depends on your price range but I'd go that route instead of the vinyl.

If money wasn't a barrier: no-climb with hot wire to keep them off it. If properly installed, you get the double-benefit of keeping your dogs in, and other dogs out.

I would never use a vinyl fence due to price, and injury issue, and have you seen it after a fire? Looks like jelly beans. We have post and rail with no climb, and recently started replacing the old no climb with cyclone on the interior. I like the cyclone with the post and rail, keeps neighbor dogs out, hooves can't catch, works like a net when hit, and is easier to install then no climb.

I went to that website and liked the stuff, so I tried to find a dealer. Their search thing only goes up to 250 miles, and no dealer within that range for me. Is there a dealer near you? If so, where are you?

I think you could find other manufactures. I have Centaur fencing, so I don't know any local dealers for the vinyl wood fencing, I only know the product is out there.

high tension monofilament line. Very easy to install on posts or T-posts . . . pops back if something falls on it, unlike wire. And doesn't cut if horse puts a leg through it . . .
