Not sure if those things will help with impactions. Is he turned out most of the time? Impactions are generally from either lack of movement or not enough water or a combination of both. Since you already give salt, it's probably not one of those things.If something else is causing it, such as sand or an enterolith, you might discuss that with your vet. Older horses sometimes don't chew their hay as well as they should, so it may be time to go to an all pelleted feed or soaked cubes. Certainly giving pro and prebiotics won't hurt and can only help with his digestion, but I think there has to be another issue at the root of his impactions.|
