My paint tore his suspensory. It was a long process before he was diagnosed as he was still being ridden by the trainer. When I myself moved to a new area I immediately took him to Alamo Pintado and he was diagnosed via MRI. He tore his back hind leg suspensory. He had 3 shock wave treatments, 2 weeks apart, was started on Osteon from Platinum and had hand walking for about 4 months. He then progressed to riding at a walk for about 3 times a week plus hand walking. I also kept him in back on track quick wraps. It's been 2 years and even though he is sound now, I know he physically is not the same, Now he has some back problems not related to the tear, so he is basically a walk/trot, ride on a good day friend. Luckily for both of us, he was a great patient in rehab and was never a goofy guy and wonderful to hand walk.|
I would highly recommend shock wave if you have access to a vet who does it and you can afford it.
