Generally speaking, horses can get a rhinitis that appears to have cold like symptoms, such as a minor nasal discharge, but coughing is rare with rhinitis. I've had horses at boarding barns for 40 years and a barn full of coughing horses would alarm me. I would immediately quarantine a coughing horse. Strangles usually causes nasal discharge and coughing, and that's probably what I would suspect. If you're concerned about it, ask to speak to the vet for those horses that are coughing.|
