Long term in the cases I am referring to was over one year, some as long as two years. I had one horse here come up with swelling in chest, for months vet just blamed bugs, then horse was laying down and became lethargic. FInally they did more diagnostics and said he had cancer. owner was devastated and was making plans to euthanize. In the mean time I was studying previcox and side effects in dogs. I told her to take him off and see what would happen, cause it really was not helping his stiffness anyway. ALmost immediately swelling left and his energy came back and he is going strong today. ANother horse presented with 3rd or 4th degree heart block and heart rate was very, very low. She had to get EKG and all kinds of testing and they said what he had was really rare. I told the owner about heart problems in dogs and suggested it could be his problem. At first did not listen but eventually took hium off and replaced with turmeric paste. Its been a few months, he is doing well and heart just checked out with much highter heart rate. Another one was messing with cushings test, first hores appeared to h ave very high numbers, then removed from previcox and numbers went to normal range, About a year later horse did present with high numbers again and was put on meds for cushings, so that is hard to say previcox might of been making things worse. |
