You have quit at exactly the right moment - because 244 is indeed the best possible score. Excellent work!

You had me worried for a moment - but I re-ran my model allowing for 11 and then 12 crossings - and the results were slower totals, not faster ones.

IMO, as "simple" bridge and torch puzzles go, that one was relatively difficult - offering some resistance to the "well known" tactics for such puzzles.
