you mean the first player wins eventually (but not on the third move).
We're probably saying the same thing, but here's how I'd describe it:
The first player plays X in the center. After that, both players are playing O. The first player plays opposite (wrt to the center position) the second player until a winning move is available.
If the second player plays on a corner, the game goes five moves.
If the second player plays on an edge, the game goes seven moves.
