...ABC re-aired Episode #211, "The Corsican Cousins" which originally aired on December 10, 1970.
Durwood comes home from playing a round of golf with Larry and client Mr. Langley, head of Bigelow Industries, to tell Samantha that they have been invited to join Mr. Langley’s country club and that Samantha is going to entertain Mrs. Langley and another lady from the club's admission committee while Durwood plays golf again with Mr. Langley. Samantha is not too pleased and as they continue discussing Durwood just about sits on Endora who has just popped in. Disgusted with his mother-in-law, Durwood goes to change and Endora relates her disgust at Samantha having been reduced to a housewife who is going to be forced into joining a country club. She suggests Samantha be more like her free spirit cousin, Serena, who doesn’t give a care about country clubs or house work and she zaps up a view of what Serena is currently doing on the TV. Serena is dancing with some handsome devils at a cosmic dance club but Samantha tells her mother that she’s happy with where she is and she goes to make lunch. Frustrated, Endora tries to think of a way she can show Samantha how she is missing the good life and it dawns on her that she should cast a Corsican Brothers type spell on Samantha and Serena so that Samantha will feel what Serena does. At that moment Serena stops dancing and her partner slaps her behind which Samantha feels, startling her. Endora pops out and Samantha goes to call Durwood down for lunch and when he kisses her she recoils as she felt a burning sensation caused by Serena eating something hot for an appetizer. Just then Larry arrives with news that the ladies of the committee would like to meet Samantha straight away and have decided to come over today. All though Samantha isn’t impressed she begins laughing as Serena is being tickled. Larry is confused but leaves to go home. Durwood wonders if Samantha might be under a spell but she insists she’s not and suggests they go eat their lunch.
At her lunch, Serena decides on ring-tailed pheasant causing Samantha to crave it as well though she had just made a lobster salad and she insists that they go to the store to buy some. However when they get there Serena has finished her lunch and quelled her craving. Seeing at how erratic his wife’s behavior is, Durwood decides that he must call Larry to cancel the committee ladies visit and while he goes to call Larry, Samantha suddenly starts dancing as Serena is out in the cosmos dancing with her new boyfriend. When Durwood sees this he immediately hangs up and drags his dancing wife out to the car.
Arriving at home Samantha stops grooving and as they walk up to the house Mrs. Langley arrives with her friend, Mrs. Hunter, who are an hour early. Meanwhile at the club, Serena’s date sees that his wife is there and he pops out upsetting Serena. At 1164 Samantha tries to prepare a quick appetizer for the ladies but is truly irritated with Durwood for reasons unknown. Larry shows up and gets the brunt of Serena’s new hatred for males via Samantha who realizes that her canapés are burning.
At the club Endora pops in on Serena who is crying because now she won’t have anything to do that afternoon. Her tears make Samantha cry making the ladies think she’s quite emotional. Endora is frustrated that Serena is spoiling her spell so she zaps up a big glass of witches joy juice for Serena who gets drunk after a couple sips. Of course, Samantha gets drunk as well and is quite insulting to the ladies who decide to leave with a reminder that Mr. Langley will hear about this preventing McMann and Tate from getting his account. Larry is furious and he leaves too.
Later on, Endora shows up admitting that she cast a spell and she removes it. However the damage has been done as Durwood has been fired. But all is not as bad as Durwood thinks when Larry shows up with news that Mr. Langley is being investigated for the way he became head of Bigelow Industries which means had McMann and Tate been involved with them it would’ve looked bad and he gives Durwood his job back.
I LOVE this episode!! I think it's so funny and such a great idea! Like Endora said, "I wonder why I didn't think of this before?"
Elizabeth Montgomery reminds me very much of Carol Burnett in this episode with her comedic acting skills. Especially when she's Serena and she says, "I'd like to thank you both." Witch reminds me, why wasn't Carol Burnett ever on the show??? That would've been SO awesome!
I think it's very funny, especially from the audience's point of view when Samantha says to Durwood, "You're beginning to bug me, and I don't know why." Well, we know why! It's cause your hubby ain't even the same guy!
I think Serena looks way hot in her outfit and I also love it when she says, "You're a rat! And that's an insult to rats!" And then later on when Endora pops in and asks her why she's so upset and she says, "Because! Now I won't have anything to do this afternoon!" I love the way she says it.
It's also hysterical when drunk Samantha is leaning in so close to one of the ladies' faces and then just looks at her and says, "Hi."
And honestly, where the hell are Tabitha and Adam???? How great would it have been to try and shield at least Tabitha from seeing her mother acting that way?
And also, ring-tailed pheasant readily available at the market? Really??
