Much of the Puritan clothing is inaccurate, from what I've been able to find. Apparently, few Puritans wore black clothing, as black dye was expensive and faded easily. Most fabric was dyed with what was available--vegetables, nuts, bark. Women would not be showing their below-the-neck area, nor their arms. Mop caps, I believe, came more into fashion in the next century. Bonnets were more in fashion in our Salem era (as in the "Maid of Salem" portrait). Funny, I always thought that one was inaccurate!
