Rick Allison blew my mind this morning. To be included in a set that goes from Stevie Wonder to the Rolling Stones is quite a thrill. Dave Grohl's acoustic version of "Times Like These" is one of the best live performances caught on tape. Joan Osborne and I are both from Louisville, Kentucky. I was born there and moved several times before arriving in New York.
Herman's Hermits. Leslie Nielsen and Priscilla Presley in Naked Gun. Say no more. When I used to play Kenny's Castaways on Bleecker Street, Elvis Costello's "Everyday I Write The Book" was on the juke box. I used to play it every time I was there. A real songwriter's song.
Exile on Main Street was a double LP release that I used to play all the way through at least once a day the summer it came out.
Stevie Wonder. I saw him warm up for the Rolling Stones at Madison Square Garden. One of the best writer singer producers to ever enter a recording studio. Thanks Rick.
