Thanks for the interesting link. I had heard of the "Social Safeway" and perhaps the "Soviet Safeway" before but not the others. I had spotted the "Secret" store before, it is very innocuous. Unless you are the type of person to examine overhanging signage on random grocery stores you encounter, you wouldn't even know it's a Safeway.
Not sure if there are any other "names" Safeways in the burbs. I think it's a phenomenon unique to downtown DC.
