Was there such a thing as "Big Bear" markets?

I knew David did this board, so I naturally came here when I found stuff related to "Big Bear" markets from the 1950s.

I've got a contract to digitize animation cels and create a website for liquidating these items, which were apparently used in theater advertisements in the 1940s, 1950s, and early 1960s (television, black-and-white for the 1960s). There's about 500,000 of these things, so we are picking and choosing.

In any case, we've come across some of these animation cels for a company called "Big Bear Markets."

Does anyone know where (in which states, cities) these markets did business? Who purchased this company (or do they still exist?)

    Many thanks.
