There were at least four separate Big Bear chains in the US: one in San Diego ceased to exist in the 1980s, one in Seattle was merged into Lucky Stores in the 1950s or 1960s, one in Ohio has recently gone belly-up, and one in North Carolina became part of Harris-Teeter in 1984.
