I work at a Ralphs in Rancho Cucamonga on Baseline Rd and less than a couple miles down that road is another Ralphs on Baseline that used to be a Hughes. I thought the former Hughes would be gone by now but the rent must be pretty cheap so they keep both stores open. --Previous Message-- : I vaguely remember seeing a couple of : Kroger-owned QFC stores very close to : some Kroger-owned Fred Meyer stores in : the Seattle area on my last visit as : well... : : --Previous Message-- : In Pocatello, Idaho, there was a : Smith's : store on Yellowstone that was built : sometime around 1990 (not an exact : date). Fred Meyer moved from its old : department-store-only store in a strip : mall with Albertsons across the street : into a supercenter in the last few : years. By then Smith's and Fred Meyer : were both owned by Kroger, so the : Smith's store closed. The Albertsons : store has closed since then, also. Not : much of a duel, but worth noting. : : --Previous Message-- : There is an interesting phenomenon in : the : Buckhead area of Atlanta. On Peachtree : Road there are two Kroger stores : operating virtually across the road : from each other. What makes this : interesting is that neither store was : originally a Kroger. One was originally : and A&P Food Market and one was a : Harris Teeter. Both chains exited the : ATL market several years ago-both : stores still retain their original : exteriors and interiors-the only : difference is the Kroger logo replacing : the old signage. Have you seen a : similar occurance in your area with : your local chains? : : : : :
