As a former employee of the Columbus Ohio based "Big Bear Supermarkets", I would like to say that we did definitely exist...:)

: I knew David did this board, so I
: naturally came here when I found stuff
: related to "Big Bear" markets
    : from the 1950s.
    :
    : I've got a contract to digitize
: animation cels and create a website for
: liquidating these items, which were
    : apparently used in theater
    : advertisements in the 1940s, 1950s, and
    : early 1960s (television,
    : black-and-white for the 1960s). There's
: about 500,000 of these things, so we
    : are picking and choosing.
    :
: In any case, we've come across some of
: these animation cels for a company
    : called "Big Bear Markets."
    :
: Does anyone know where (in which
: states, cities) these markets did
: business? Who purchased this company
: (or do they still exist?)
    :
    : Many thanks.
