    Cedar & Dakota and the now closed store and First & Tulare used to be Sav-Ons. Sav-On was only in Fresno for a year before selling the locations to Vons. (Opened in 1984, closed in 1985) There was picketing of the stores when they re-opened because Vons did not offer the ex Sav-On employees jobs with Vons.

    There were only 5 Alpha Betas in the Fresno area, one at First & Bullard, (Now a 99c Only store) one at Shaw & West (Now an Office Max) One at Peach & Belmont (Still a grocery) one at First & McKinley (Was a Save Mart until recently, now a DD's Discounts) and one in Clovis at Peach & Shaw (Now a Big Lots).
