The Harrison Coal & Reclamation Historical Park was founded in 1992 to form a preservation effort to aquire & preserve Ohio & surrounding regions surface mining heritage including the Bucyrus-Erie 1950-B stripping shovel called "The Silver Spade" when retired from service. If the organization is successful in aquiring the shovel which will be it's star attraction & land surrounding the shovel where retired the 7200 will be reassembled as a addition to the Silver Spade. James Brothers Coal Company of Magnolia, Ohio has donated a Marion 7200 walking dragline to the Harrison Coal & Reclamation Historical Park, a surface mining museum project near Cadiz in Eastern Ohio. Reclamation of the land, where the dragline is parked, must be finished by June 2005. The dragline will be dismantled & moved to the Harrison Coal & Reclamation Historical Park grounds located along Ohio 519, between New Athens & US Route 22. Funding to dismantle & move the dragline must be secured by October 1, 2004. The dragline will be reassembled after enough funds are raised for that phase of the project. Based on information provided, this Marion 7200 is in operating condition, for special events. Estimated cost to dismantle & move dragline based on price quotes is 23,000-50,000 dollars. The Historcial Construction Equipment Association-Ohio Valley Chapter & the Harrison Coal & Reclamation Historical Park are proud to accounce that a Marion 7200 Walking dragline has been donated to the Harrison Coal & Reclamation Historical Park. Marion Power Shovel entered walking dragline market with the model 7200 walking draglines as it first of many models. Many 7200 walking draglines seen life in production of coal, sand & gravel, & some seen life in producing both minerals.
